Milk Chocolate Fudge with Walnuts

I am not a huge fan of fudge. Sometimes it is gritty and sometimes it is just too sweet, not to mention it's not the cheapest thing at a chocolate shop. However this fudge is creamy and has just enough sweetness to keep me going back for another piece. Every year for Christmas my mother-in-law makes her homemade fudge and gives us a batch but this past Christmas we hit the jackpot because she not only gave us a batch of fudge but she also gave me the recipe so that I could make the fudge at home. I found that it was easy to make and I thought for it being my first time and all, that I would end up doing something wrong but everything went smoothly and in no time I was enjoying my new creamy dessert. My husband insists on storing the fudge in the freezer, which I don't mind because when I make it during the summer it makes for a nice cold treat. You do not have to make your own sweetened condensed milk it just saves some money since I have all the ingredients at home and rarely ever have a can of condensed milk in the house.

Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 1/4 c. margarine/butter
  • 1 c. non fat dry milk powder
  1. Heat sugar and water in a small sauce pan over medium heat until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add margarine and stir until melted. Heat to a boil.
  3. Put milk powder into blender or food processor and process until smooth while adding margarine mixture. Cool, cover and refrigerate or use immediately.

  • 1 pkg (12oz) milk chocolate chips
  • 1 c. sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 Tbsp. margarine/butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 c. walnuts, chopped

  1. Put chocolate chips in top of a double boiler. Place over hot (not boiling) water. Stir until melted.
  2. Add condensed milk, margarine and vanilla. Blend until butter is mixed into the chocolate. Stir in nuts
  3. Spread into lightly oiled 8x8 square pan. Cool in fridge until set and firm. Cut into squares.

This looks delicious! I tend to screw up desserts like this so it's nice to have an easier more fool proof recipe! Thanks!

This is the second fudge recipe I've seen today! And it's weird because I found a box of fudge in my closet that I hid from myself after Christmas so I wouldn't eat it all. This does look real creamy and delicious! A cold piece of this on a hot day sounds like such a treat.
